State Deputy's Message
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Welcome to the New York State Council website:
There are many things happening in the New York State council. In addition to our local councils having their spring events, the New York State Council is preparing for its annual convention that will be held in early May in Tarrytown, New York. This year our charity that we will be supporting is The Sisters of Life. I remember about 20 years ago when John Cardinal O’Connor presented a small group of holy women to us at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Today this Order has grown into a vibrant and essential group of religious sisters doing the necessary pro life work in New York City and its surrounding areas. Consider sending a donation to us to facilitate the Sisters of Life mission.
Our Membership team is working diligently to recruit and retain members in this Easter Season. The supreme and state councils are providing financial incentives to councils for recruiting new members between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2013. Spring and Easter is a time of renewal and we in New York State are looking to renew ourselves in our Faith and the practical expression of our Faith which is for many of us is facilitated by our membership in the Order of the Knights of Columbus.
To get an idea of the activities which some of our councils, chapters and sister organizations are involved. Please look further down the web page to where you can see televised episodes of “Building His Dream” our Program on Telecare. Our councils are involved in many charities and activities that support our church and local parishes. If you are not a member consider joining the largest Catholic Fraternity in the world by emailing me at Joinkofc@gmail.com.
While spring is a time for planting, in the K of C it is also a time for harvesting. It is a time to take stock in our strengths so that we may focus on our challenges. It is a time to harvest all the good will from our charitable endeavors to keep the dream of Father McGivney alive. It is a time to build the Dream of Father McGivney so that the Order in New York will prosper and grow.
Building his Dream, always,
Fraternally,
