New York Knights of Columbus State Deputy Thomas Dwyer and his wife Peggy kicked off the 2004 New York State Council Knights of Columbus Charitable and Benevolent (C&B) Program on Sunday, March 14th by purchasing tickets from Upstate C&B Coordinator Bill Ose and Northern Conference Coordinator Bill Boulio. Each year the New York Knights sell over one million of the C&B tickets. New York's eight Bishops each receive $10,000 for diocesan programs for the handicapped. Local councils use their share of the proceeds to assist charitable programs on the local level. Over the programs 40-year history more than 25 million dollars has been raised for charity on the state, diocesan and council levels. (K of C Photograph by John Ryan) |

| The Most Rev. Matthew Clark, Bishop of Rochester received a check in the amount of $10,000 from the Knights of Columbus State Deputy Thomas E. Dwyer at the Finger Lakes Chapter Annual Bishop's Burse Dinner held Saturday, April 3 at the Best Western Diplomat in Gates. The C&B (Charitable & Benevolent) Program enables the New York State Council Knights of Columbus to donate $10,000 annually to each of the eight New York State Bishops for use in local programs to assist the handicapped. Representatives of the 43 Councils and 14 Fourth Degree Assemblies in the Finger Lakes Chapter also presented monies primarily earned from their C&B Program to therBishop. Bishop Clark, in his speech that evening, announced that during his tennure as Bishop of Rochester the Knights of Columbus have given the Diocese more than $250,000 to assist te handicapped. | C&B PROGRAM CHANGES The prize structure for the 2004 C&B Program has changed. Prizes will be distributed as follows: 1st Prize - $25,000. 2nd Prize - $10,000., 3rd Prize - $5,000. There will also be 10 consolation prizes drawn for $1,000. each. New York State will still distribute $50,000. in prizes, however the structure has been modified. A "Thank You" to everyone mor making the 2003 program such a great success. |
