Genesee Valley Regional Special Olympics Games - Memorial Day Weekend - May 31, 2008

The Genesee Regional Games of Special Olympics were held at RIT Campus in Rochester, NY.  Color Corps of the 4th NY
District led the athletes into the stadium.  Mayor Robert Duffy sent along a Proclamation declaring the weekend of May 31 –
June 1, 2008, Special Olympics weekend in Rochester.  County Executive Maggie Brooks, sent along her best wishes to
the athletes.  David Moore, Chief of the Rochester Police Department, wished the athletes well and good luck in their
competitions.  The Regional Games are Track and Field Event competitions for both children and adults.  There were 600
athletes in attendance who enthusiastically took to their competitions.  Police Chief Moore administered the Olympians Oath
: “ Let me win, but, if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”  At this point, Police Chief Moore declared the games
officially opened to the applause of all present.
