Father Joseph O’Connell Council 3481 K of C in
Oceanside recently held the Knights of Columbus Free
Throw Championship at the Rockville Centre
Recreation Center on Saturday. The kids who
participated in this local competition enjoyed themselves
and were quite competitive. While the competition was
on, the kids received an afternoon lunch of pizza and
soda on behalf of the Knights. Over 200,000 boys and
girls ages 10 to 14, from all over the United States in
January, participate in this annual event which locally
brings out families and parents from both Rockville
Centre and Oceanside to watch the competition among
other kids and receive awards for their efforts. All
winners on Saturday will then proceed to the District
Championship, then to higher Regional, State and
National levels based on scores.  K of C members left

Additional Seminarian Support by Christ the
King Council of Aurora
On Saturday, May 3rd, members of Christ the King of
Aurora Council 12829 worked on the annual spring
cleanup at Christ the King Seminary. I wasn’t able to
get a group picture like last year. But we also
presented a set of vestments to each of the
seminarians who are being ordained this year and did
get some pictures of that event.

Photo 1 shows seminarians, Fr Walter Szczesny,
diocesan vocation director, and the members of our
council who stayed for lunch. The seminarians from left
