2005 PILGRIMAGE TO OUR LADY OF THE ISLAND

The New York State Council Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Eastport, NY takes place on the Sunday immediately following Mother's Day.  The 2005 pilgrimage took place on May 15th.  The pilgrimage began with an outdoor recitation of the Rosary.  One hundred fifty juniper bushes spaced in a quarter-mile circle count off each Hail Mary.  Mass follows on a beautiful hilltop in front of a magnificant 18 foot statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  The setting offers a beautiful view of Long Island's south shore.  One can't help but tut be inspired by this beautiful day or prayer and fraternity in such a wonderful setting.  Our thanks to Suffolk Chapter for use of their photographs.
